Terms of Service
Porchmode
Effective October 6, 2026 · Version 1.0
These terms cover every booking with Porchmode, Timothy legal name doing business as Porchmode, Orange County, California ("Porchmode," "we," "us"). By booking, you agree to them. "You" means the person who books and pays.
1. What you're buying
- A seasonal porch display designed for your home and installed by our crew: pumpkins and heirlooms, potted mums, and the props and stems your package lists on porchmode.com/packages, plus delivery, installation, a sweep and blow-down, before and after photos in a private gallery, and a text at every step.
- Grand Entry also includes the Thanksgiving Transition, Season Clear-out, Reveal Film & Gallery, and Christmas First Access with no deposit.
- Pumpkins and heirlooms are natural products. Sizes, colors, and varieties vary. We design within your style and package and substitute like for like when a variety isn't available.
- We sell seasonal décor and its installation only. We don't do construction, doors, hardware, painting, electrical work, or landscaping (section 18).
- 2026 is our Founding Season, limited to 50 fall porches.
2. Booking and holds
- Choosing a window holds it for 10 minutes while you finish. If the timer runs out, the hold is released.
- Bookings close 36 hours before a window starts. Engraved Family Signs need at least 10 days.
- If a payment goes through after your hold expired and the window was taken, we refund it in full automatically and give you priority on the waitlist.
- Your booking is confirmed when you receive our confirmation.
3. Prices, tax, and payment
- All prices of taxable items include sales tax reimbursement computed to the nearest mill. Your receipt shows the tax and separately states installation labor, which isn't taxable.
- If your ZIP is outside our no-fee zone, the travel fee is shown before you pay and is part of your total.
- You pay in full when you book, by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay through Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- If we post a price in error, we'll tell you before your install and offer the correct price or a full refund.
4. Rescheduling and cancelling
- Reschedule free up to 72 hours before your window, subject to availability.
- Cancel at least 7 days before your install for a full refund.
- Inside 7 days we've already sourced your pumpkins and plants, so we refund half.
- Engraved Family Signs are made to order and can't be refunded once ordered.
- Christmas First Access deposit ($100) is credited to your Christmas install. It's refundable on request any time before you use it. If you haven't booked a Christmas date by Sunday, Dec 6, 2026, we refund it automatically.
- If we have to cancel, you get a full refund or a new date of your choice.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method.
5. What we need from you
- Accurate address, gate, guard, and HOA instructions, and permission for our crew to work at the entry.
- Steps and the entry area clear of cars, bikes, and furniture you don't want moved.
- Pets inside during the install. If a dog is loose in the front yard, we won't come in; we'll call you.
- Sprinklers near the entry off or redirected. Water rots pumpkins.
- Any HOA approval your community requires for seasonal décor. If your HOA asks for our insurance certificate, tell us when you book.
- You don't need to be home.
6. Install day
- You get a 30-minute arrival window. We text when we're on the way, when we arrive, and when we're done.
- If we're more than 45 minutes late we'll call. If we'll be more than 99 minutes late we'll offer to reschedule at no charge.
- If anything isn't right when you see it, reply to our text within 7 days. We'll adjust it once at no charge.
7. Weather
- Light rain doesn't stop an install. Pumpkins handle a shower.
- If wind, heavy rain, heat, fire, smoke, an evacuation, a power shutoff, or anything else makes the install unsafe, we'll text you and move your window to the next open time that works for you. If none works, you get a full refund.
8. Heat, freshness, and the 14-day promise
- Uncarved heirlooms on a Southern California porch usually look good for about four to eight weeks. Afternoon sun, Santa Ana winds, and marine-layer damp shorten that. Whites show age first. We never carve.
- 14-day promise: any piece that goes soft, splits, or molds within 14 days of your install is replaced free at our next service run. Text us a photo.
- After 14 days: Grand Entry is refreshed at its Thanksgiving Transition. For other packages, add the Transition or ask for a replacement visit at a flat fee we'll quote.
- A leaking or collapsing piece is removed free as soon as we can route to it, at any time.
- Mums need water: every day or two in heat, at the soil.
9. Halloween, vandalism, and theft
- We can't control what happens on your porch after we leave. Vandalism and theft are your risk.
- If pieces are smashed or taken, text us a photo. We'll clear broken pieces at no charge and replace pieces at our materials cost, with no labor charge. Grand Entry gets up to 3 pieces replaced free.
- On Halloween night, consider bringing statement pieces inside or keeping a porch light on.
10. What's yours and what's ours
- Yours to keep: pumpkins, heirlooms, mums, stems, bales, wreaths and doormats from Door Dressing, Engraved Family Signs, Statement Giants, Mum Pairs, and live potted evergreens at Christmas.
- Ours, on loan: risers, urns, crates, baskets, lanterns, planters marked as on loan, and at Christmas our garland bases, wreath bases, trees, lights, timers, and cords. We collect them at clear-out, prop pickup, or the January takedown.
- We don't charge for ordinary wear or weather. If a loaned piece is lost or damaged otherwise, including by theft, we may charge its replacement cost: riser $60, urn $80, lantern $45, basket or crate $36; Christmas pieces as listed in your booking.
11. Clear-out, prop pickup, and Christmas takedown
- Season Clear-out (add-on; included in Grand Entry): we come back the week after Thanksgiving, or earlier if you ask, clear every piece, sweep, and compost what we can. To keep the mums, reply KEEP.
- Without clear-out: the pumpkins and mums are yours to enjoy or compost. We stop by after Thanksgiving to collect our loaned pieces at no charge.
- Booking Christmas with us? We clear your fall display on the same visit. If you already paid for a fall clear-out, we credit it to your Christmas install.
- Christmas takedown is included in every Christmas package and happens in early January on a date we text you.
12. Damage and our responsibility
- Our crews work carefully: pads and trays under every piece, nothing fastened to your home.
- If we damage something while working, tell us within 7 days. We'll repair or replace it, or pay for the repair, at our choice. We carry general liability insurance.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for: damage caused by your display after we leave (including stains from a piece that rots before you tell us about it), vandalism or theft, weather, pets, or conditions we couldn't reasonably see.
- To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits liability for our gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
13. Photos, film, and your privacy
- We photograph your entry before and after, and may record a time-lapse. These stay in your private gallery at a link only you get.
- You may download and share your gallery for personal use. We keep the rights to our photos and film.
- Featuring your porch on our website or social accounts requires a separate opt-in at checkout. That box starts unchecked. Even then we remove house numbers, street signs, license plates, faces, your name, and your street. Change your mind anytime and we'll take the photos down.
- Portrait sessions: anyone pictured signs a release before we use an image publicly; parents sign for children.
- See our Privacy Policy.
14. The sign program
- If you opt in, we place a small Porchmode sign within your display, on your side of the property line, never on a sidewalk, parkway, or street. It stays up while your display does and we remove it at clear-out or prop pickup.
- By opting in you confirm your HOA, if you have one, allows it.
- The $25 credit comes off your total at checkout. If your HOA or city asks us to remove the sign, we will, and the credit stays yours.
15. Add-ons
- Reveal Film & Gallery: delivered within 72 hours of your install. No licensed music; add your own in your app.
- Porch Portrait Session: 20 minutes on your finished porch with a professional photographer, 15 edited images, scheduled on or after your install day. Weather reschedules are free.
- Engraved Family Sign: made to order by a vetted maker from the exact wording you submit. Check spelling before you pay. Not refundable once ordered.
- Thanksgiving Transition: in mid-November we swap Halloween accents for harvest: fresh mums, ornamental kale, wheat, and a new piece wherever one has tired.
- Door Dressing, Lantern Light, Statement Giant, Mum Pair: as described at checkout. Lantern Light uses flameless candles only.
- Christmas First Access: see section 4.
16. Gift bookings
- You can book a porch for someone else. You confirm you have their permission for our crew to work at their entry, and you give us their access, HOA, and pet notes.
- Texts and photos come to you unless you ask otherwise. Refunds go to you.
17. Christmas installations
- We use plug-in decorative lighting only, powered from your existing exterior outlets through our own outdoor-rated GFCI equipment. You confirm the outlet works.
- We don't open electrical panels, add or replace outlets, hardwire anything, work on rooflines or second stories, or work above about 10 feet. Those are licensed trades.
- Lights run on timers. If cords or lights are damaged, unplug them and text us.
- Fresh greens dry out over the season, faster in Santa Ana wind. The Christmas care note explains what to do.
18. Entry Notes and introductions
- After your install we may send Entry Notes: brand-neutral observations about your entry, such as a door finish or a walkway light.
- If you ask, we'll introduce you to an independent, licensed (CSLB) professional. We don't sell, price, schedule, perform, supervise, or guarantee their work. Any agreement is between you and them. We may receive a referral fee; we'll tell you when we do.
19. Texts
Text messages are governed by our SMS Terms (porchmode.com/sms-terms). Reply STOP to stop, HELP for help.
20. Disclaimers
- To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond the ones in these terms and on the package page.
- Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under California consumer law.
21. Disputes and governing law
- Talk to us first: hello@porchmode.com. Most things can be fixed with a text.
- California law governs these terms. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court. Otherwise, disputes go to the state courts in Orange County, California.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
22. Changes and contact
- We may update these terms. The version in effect when you book applies to that booking.
